Must-Have Accessories for Business Trips

As I pack up my laptop tote on Sunday night, getting ready for the mad dash early on Monday, I ensure I have these accessories:
If I’m flying:
- Laptop
- Power Cord
- iPod, fully charged
- Noise-reducing headphones
- A few magazines to start reading before take-off (this helps clean up my pile of mail from home)
- My Planner, so I can get down the tasks for the upcoming week
- Protein bar or nuts or other munchables
- Sunglasses
- Birthday cards, thank you cards or other notes to write while on the plane
- Stamps
- Cash (enough for taxis and a few meals, in case charge cards aren’t accepted)
- Misc. (Kleenex, lip balm, gum, my favorite teabags)
- A photocopy of my driver’s license and passport (kept in my laptop tote… not with the real versions in my purse)
- Free drink coupons (if the airlines send them to me) for a glass of wine at the end of the week
For longer flights (especially overseas), I’ll add:
- Earplugs
- Pashmina Shawl
- Travel pillow
- Eye Shade
- Lighted Compact Mirror (to see if I have any of the under-eye mascara when I wake up)

If I’m driving:
- Laptop
- Power Cord
- CD’s with music or personal development
- Headset for my cell phone for hands-free driving
- Cell phone charger which goes in the car’s electrical outlet
- GPS, which a charger if it’s portable
- Protein bar or other easy to eat while driving items
- Sunglasses
- Cash for incidentals
- Car insurance card
- Phone number for AAA or other roadside assistance
What do I have in my cell phone?
- Phone numbers to every major airline
- Phone numbers to every major hotel chain
- Phone number of who I’m to meet
- Phone number of the office where I’m going
- Phone number for traffic updates (511 in my area)
- ICE (In Case of Emergency) number with my husband’s cell phone number.
